So I had my last day off on Wednesday, and i have a ten-day week until Sunday June 3 for my next day off so needless to say i'm going to be wiped. Yesterday Hayley had her day off so i had to run stallion yard by myself inthe pouring rain. Thankfully David was gone to a show with Centuro for most of the day so i didnt have to worry about tacking up and un-tacking for him. Saturday Hayley left at noon so i had the afternoon on my own, but it was pretty laid back and I ended up riding persh (the big grey percheron/draft horse thing) and i felt so tiny on him, especially since my legs, even out of the stirrups, barely reached half way down his sides! but he's a really good boy and although he is extremely green and cant even canter i had fun on him. he tries really hard...unlike teasle who is so lazy. but i had a lesson with serena yesterday because david was away at the show and we worked on collected canter and although i felt like my legs had turned to jelly it felt really cool because i actually got him to collect so much that he was using his hind end and like jumping with his front...hard to explain but really cool feeling. Serena said i did a nice job. and then today i worked on medium canter again with david and at the end i had teasle doing a really nice working trot because doing the medium trot made him engage so much. So now i have to get him to do the working trot all the time and not just the last 10 minutes of the lesson..which is exhausting.
saturday night we went out to this girl Jo's birthday party..i didnt know her but she used to work at sheepcote and then stopped horses all together and became a pole/lap dancer. so the party was at the club that she works with. Nicole, Emma, Kara, Wendy, David, Serena, and I all went (Wendy and I just went for the food cause we didnt want to make dinner). Nicole, Emma and I left early, around 9 30, because we had to feed the ponies their late hay but apparently the girls who work with jo at the club started demonstrating on the pole and they got david to dance or something and im bummed i missed it cause it was probably hilarious!
Margot comes at the end of next week and im (hopefully...fingers crossed) going to be able to meet her in Birmingham which will be fun i think. Fliss decided to take that week off..without asking Kara, so theres a bit of a scheduling problem but hopefully Kara will let us both have the day off. Fliss also took this weekend off because of a wedding, but it turns out the weddign was on sunday and she took both sat and sun off and then never showed up to work today and gave a bunch of pretty shady excuses so a bunch of us are irritated because we're already short-staffed since verity is having a break. Hopefully she gets back fortomorrow or otherwise we'll have 4 people missing, so getting work done would be really difficult.
Serena's cousin's daughter, Polly, is here for the week for her school vacation and she's lovely. She's a nice rider, but apparently she's never had to do anything other than ride..as in not having to tack up, groom, clean stalls, anything. Since she rides a horse on stallion yard (Rolex is her 'adopted' horse...she rides him whenever she's here, and she does a really nice job with him) I often feel like im always double checking to make sure she does stuff right. She tries hard, she just doesnt know, so I have to be nearby to make sure things run smoothly. At least i dont have to tack up everything for her...and she does want to learn so it makes things easier.
alright im starved and have to gear up for a tough day tomorrow so bye!
