so this is an english summer..

it is now july and it is still 60 degrees and rainy everyday. i dont know how the english arent all suicidal.
however despite the horrific weather life is going well and i think i might even miss this place a bit come the end of july. Riding is going really well, all of a sudden david and serena think im capable of riding more difficult horses. ive started riding sultan more often and serena was really pleased with my work on him. We worked on collected canter and walk/canter transitions and she said that if i continued to ride him i could potentially learn some higher level stuff (like pirouettes) if i can get really solid basic work done on him. I dont think ill be here long enough to actually get there but itd be cool if i could. Since sultan is old i cant really ride him every day (he's in semi-retirement) so ive been riding serena's horse Devil too. he's adifficult ride but he's really really good at lateral work so ive been practicing my half-passe on him. today didnt go as well though because i wanted to get him really through and supple without the help of "gadgets" like side reins or draw reins and he's sooo lazy and not conformationally built to be adressage horse that it was really difficult, but i got it in the end and serena was really pleased.
Yesterday when i was riding sultan i mixed up my half-halts in the trot and sultan started doing passage which was really cool because ive never dreamed of doing passage before, its one of the hardest dressage movements to do since its such a collected trot. david was kinda laughing at me though because i didnt know how to make sultan stop. then serena steppe din to help me which was good because i was feeling really down and was on the verge of an emotional breakdown. but with serena's help the ride ended up much better than it started and i left the school feeling better about my riding and not quite so depressed.
things on perry are getting there, he's becoming more consistently on the bit in canter and his trot is basically where i want it to be. the trot-canter transition is still really rough but
at least it doesnt take like 5 attempts to get the right lead anymore (only 2 lol).
mom and dad arrive tomorrow, still havent heard a word from them but since i did hear from robyn and there was no word of disaster im not too worried, more just disappointed. but at least ill see them tomorrow.
so really cool..while typing this a sunshower happened and we looked out the window and there was a rainbow that started in the jumping field and went over the mainyard stables it was so close. it was really pretty and ive never seen one so close. anyway..little side note/ending note.
